Fall time in NY calls for stockings, boots, and big furry coats!

Don’t get me wrong, I love summer in NY, but I think fall is truly my favorite season. The temperature starts dropping just enough to bring out the coats, but it’s not too cold for a skirt and some stockings to go with.

Coats are one of my favorite pieces of clothing and they just really complete an outfit; perfect for a walk through the park too.

Here I’m wearing the popular I.AM.GIA Pixie coat in red. It comes in four different colors now – cream, caramel, red, and black.  All of these are perfect staples for any New Yorker’s winter closet. This coat is the epitome of comfy/cozy and any of the four colors take an outfit to the next level.

The gingham skirt I’m wearing is from Urban Outfitters. One of my favorite things about this skirt – it has pockets! Pockets on a skirt or dress are definitely underrated, but as most ladies know, they are the cherry on top of the perfect outfit-sunday ; )

Gingham has been a print that’s really gained back its popularity recently and rightfully so. It matches every solid color and makes an outfit stand out a little more than an all solid-colored outfit would. It’s a fun playful pattern that can be dressed up or down.

Being in my mid-twenties, I find myself looking for pieces that can be youthful/fun or mature/sexy at the same time; done right, gingham definitely achieves that.

The turtle neck is from Zara and it is one of the best pieces to have for the fall/winter. It’s perfectly fitted and can be worn tucked into a skirt or high-waisted pants or loose over some jeans. It can also be dressed up for work/a night out or dressed down for a more casual look. I definitely recommend adding some of these in deep rich colors this season.

The booties are from Top Shop’s winter line last year. Sadly they’re no longer there, but they do have some other really cute options this season. Ankle booties are a must-have for the fall/winter. A Patent leather pair makes an outfit a bit more dressier than leather would, making them easy to wear to work or for a night out.

If you do not already have pieces like this in your closet I highly recommend investing in them. And if you do, why not add to the collection!
